Chakra Therapy

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “spinning wheel”. There are several chakras and the numbers vary per various philosophies. However their function is to absorb, assimilate and transmit energy-vital energy and connect us directly to the universal energy.
The benefit of learning about your own chakra system is for you to understand on a whole (whole = body, mind and spirit in harmony) that when all parts of you (all of your seven chakra centers) are communicating equally and working in alliance with each other-if they are not blocked you will feel vitalized. Nowadays, we live in a fast world and often forget about our “whole.” We put too much emphasis on independence and very little on interdependence. Our chakras are interdependent on each other for harmony and balance.

The 7 main chakras are located in the central line of the body:

1st chakra/Root/Muldhara:
Located near the base of the spine. Survival, fear & security issues. Issues relating to work, livelihood & money.
2nd chakra/Spleen/Swadhisthana:
Located a few finger widths below the navel. Emotionality, sexuality are main issues.
3rd chakra/Solar plexus/Manipura:
Located at the solar plexus/navel. The source of existence/identity. Ego identity--who you think you are.
4th chakra/Heart/Anahata:
Located in the center of the chest area. Affinity, harmony and love.
5th chakra/Throat/Vishuddha:
Located at the base of the neck and throat. Communication and expression. Ability to communicate with others verbally and psychically. Listening to & expressing inner voice.
6th chakra/Third eye/Ajna:
Located through the center of the head, in line with the forehead. Ability to see as spirit, seeing the whole picture without judgment. Awareness.
7th chakra/Crown/Sahasrara
Located on top of the head at the crown. Knowingness-your ability to be still and know truth. Your own direct connection to higher spiritual information.
